Old Business:  Maple Valley Days is coming up on June 8th thru 10th. There seems to be enough people now who can commit to a shift, so please check your availability to work the booth for a shift of a few hours. Sue will actually HAVE a sign-up at the next meeting. John will continue to work on finding the tent and banners, and Gina has a spare that will work if we can’t located ours. This is an opportunity to promote membership in the GMVNA, but while you are working in the booth, you will also have a chance to promote your own business. Gina and Tatiana encouraged everyone to put together a poster-sized banner wo we can hang a string of them across the back of the booth to display the variety of businesses represented.

New Business:  none

Val from Edward Jones told us this is her “heart work.” She explained how her conversations with clients are very personal, so she can understand where they are financially and what their goals are. Val also passed around an initial checklist she uses to get the ball rolling. She doesn’t insist that the form is completed prior to working with clients because it can take some time to build a level of trust, and she is willing to take that time in order to build a complete financial picture. The most important things for her to understand at the outset of a client relationship are the income, spending, savings and debt. She helps her clients to get organized so they can feel comfortable about their financial position. Val went on to share a recent client’s scenario.

Sue was up next, and talked about the history of the firm and how Fran has grown it over the years by expanding services and hiring the right people at the right time.

Referral slips were turned in. Heather won the cup.

Next speakers: Lisa and Rick. After that will be John and Agueda.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 am.

Respectfully submitted,
Sue Sherer
